The European Family Center INVICTA is an exceptional place that we are creating in Sopot. Why is Sopot the ideal location for building a place that promotes well-being of the mind, body, and spirit? Let’s find out.
Did you know that the oldest traces of human presence in Sopot and its surroundings date back to around 9,000 BCE, from the Stone Age? Sopot is a city with a truly long history. During the time of the Roman Empire, this place played a significant role as it was a hub for lively trade with southern Europe, thanks to the existence of the so-called Amber Route.
A bit later, in 1823, Jan Haffner, a former physician of Napoleon Bonaparte’s army, obtained the right to establish a “bathing facility” in Sopot. This led to the creation of a sanatorium with facilities for hot and cold baths. Over the following years, additional spa buildings were constructed, and the town itself began to transform into a resort destination.
Today, Sopot is one of the most renowned spa resorts in Poland.
The area where the complex of the European Family Center INVICTA is being built is situated in Lower Sopot, just 400 meters away from the beach. On the southern side, it opens up to a large park area known as the “Błonia Sopockie.” On the northern side, it is adjacent to a scenic retention reservoir.
The pursuit of holistic care for patients is reflected not only in the diverse functions provided within the ECR but also in the design of the surrounding landscape. The close proximity to the sea and the green surroundings contribute to relaxation and recovery. Therefore, the inspiration for landscaping around the building comes from the coastal landscape.
The project includes plant species characteristic of coastal areas, especially the coastal pine forest that occurs along the Polish Baltic coast. There will also be pines with distinctively shaped crowns and picturesque trunks. The spaces between the trees will be filled with flowering heather and sand willow.
Within the complex, there will be a place for a Seaside Garden where fragrant plants will help our patients and the residents of Sopot (as this space will also be accessible to them) relax.
The soothing influence of the sea and greenery, along with the spa tradition, are the reasons why Sopot is an ideal location for a place where we aim to take care of patients holistically, acknowledging that the state of the mind, body, and spirit mutually influence each other, and healing should encompass the whole being.
It will be beautiful!
